The picture above was my first attempt at creating some letters to add to my design. I was experimenting with the gradient tool to add the fade effect to my shapes. I was also experimenting with the shape builder tool with adding and subtracting shapes and lines though the letters.
I forgot to save the stages before this first final stage. This was the final stage before I asked The Captain for help and advice. He advised that I get ride of the color scheme because there was none. I had to many colors and the "Rainbow of death" with a lot of colors and no balance. So I took that advice to hearth and toned the colors down significantly. I decided to try and match the school colors. So I base my new design on the blues, grays, blacks, and whites.
Again forgetting to document my steps that I took to get to this stage, I can only explain what I did to get to this stage. First off The Captain advised to get ride of the odd fonts from the previous stage. I changed all my front to "Myriad Pro". It was basic yet had something different by having slightly angled edges. I also changed my background color to fade more from a light blue to black, along with adding the background "X's".
For this stage I added 4 "B's" to the "X" in the top right. I "mirrored" it on the opposing side of the "X" as well as turning around the cut into "X's". I also added the upside down "B's" stretching from the bottom right to bottom left.
In the final stage above I thickened the out the outline of the left "X" to outline it a little more and draw a little more attention to it. This is my final project stage.
Throughout out his project I have learned a great many skills and sharpening my design process with the help of The Captain. From getting better memorizing all of the short cuts in Adobe Illustrator to fiddling around with all of the skills that I have learned during the Epic Quest. The one thing I regret not doing during this project was taking screenshots and saving my work more often to more easily show the things I have changed in my design. But that is one part of this class is to learn from the mistakes so I do not make them again.
Overall I really enjoyed this quest and what it pushed me to do with all of the new skills I have just learned.
